Profiles
Create, activate, and manage add-in profiles to control which add-ins are active
What are profiles?
A profile is a saved set of enabled and disabled add-ins. Keep one profile per working scenario - for example a "Presentations" profile that disables everything except what you need while presenting, and a "Full" profile with your complete toolset. You activate one profile at a time.
The Original profile
When Deck first ran, it captured your existing add-in configuration as a system profile named Original. Activating it restores every add-in to the state it had before you started using Deck. You can't delete or edit the Original profile - it's your baseline.
Creating a profile
- Open the Profiles page from the sidebar.
- Click New Profile.
- Enter a name and (optionally) a description.
- Select which add-ins should be enabled in this profile; the rest are disabled when it's active.
- Click Save.
Editing and deleting
Select a profile and use Edit to change its name, description, or add-in selection, or Delete to remove it. The Original profile and any IT-managed profiles are read-only.
Activating a profile
Click Activate next to a profile. Deck applies it in two phases:
- Registry - writes the correct
LoadBehaviorvalue for each add-in (3= enabled,2= disabled) in your user hive. - Live toggle - if Office apps are running, Deck enables/disables the affected add-ins in place so the change takes effect without restarting Office.
If your organization has set the DisableLiveToggle policy, only the registry phase runs and changes take effect the next time you start the Office app.
Setting a default profile
Mark a profile as the default so Deck activates it automatically at startup. This keeps your add-in state consistent every time you sign in.
Quick switching from the tray
Right-click the Deck tray icon and click any profile name to activate it instantly, without opening the main window. See System Tray.
IT-managed profiles
If your organization publishes managed profiles, they appear in your Profiles list as read-only entries you can activate but not change. Depending on the ProfileManagementMode policy, you may be limited to activating these profiles only, or the profile UI may be restricted entirely. Managed settings display a managed by IT indicator. Administrators: see Managing Profiles Centrally.
